Hello, Everyone
I am running KDE Branch 3.5 (compiled from source acquired from SVN) on
Fedora Core 6.
A few weeks ago, copying and pasting started behaving very strangely
(not in the sense of erratically. Just badly....)
For example, I used to be able to copy a path to a file or directory in
Konqueror/KFM and be able to paste it into, let's say, another
instance of Konqueror/KFM. Further, I used to be able to copy and
paste a path to a file or directory from a text file in even non-KDE
applications and paste it to the address bar in Konqueror/KFM to
navigate to that location more quickly.

An example:
1. I just opened up "kfmclient openProfile filemanagement" and divided
it vertically:

(Notice the green indicator that shows which column is active.
2. I then randomly navigated to a directory and copied the address in
kfmclient's address bar:
http://www.afolkey2.net/Projects/Konqueror-CopyPaste-002.jpg
3. Next, I made the other column active and attempted to paste the path
to the address bar that I had copied in Step #2. This had the
following result:
http://www.afolkey2.net/Projects/Konqueror-CopyPaste-003.jpg
As you can see, the path in the address bar remains unchanged.

The way that it has always worked for me up until a few weeks ago was
that when I would attempt to paste a path in the address bar that I had
copied from another KDE application (or from a non-KDE app) the path
that I had copied would actually be pasted in the address bar.

I have attempted to rebuild kdelibs and kdebase from completely fresh
downloads. I have also tried this with a completely new user account,
all to no avail. Suspecting an issue with Klipper, I have tried this
with Klipper disabled, as well as removing all Klipper configuration
files/application data, again to no avail.

I am more than willing to file a detailed bug report on this if one of
you can at least inform me about the correct Product and Component to
file it under.

Again, this worked with no problem for me up until a few weeks ago.
Also, if I try the above steps in the version of KDE that ships with
Fedora Core 6, copying and pasting still works for me as it always has
before.

Have a Great Day,
Steven P. Ulrick
