The important question here is which part of KDE you tried. Given the fact 
that you're running "make -f admin/Makefile.common cvs" instead of "make 
-f Makefile.cvs", I suspect you downloaded something wrong.

Please use "make -f Makefile.cvs", which in turn means you must start your 
tree from the directory that has the Makefile.cvs file.
