i actually looked it up in the CIA factbook and the UN nations information 
site and both note that Turkey is geographically in Europe from a certain 
point west, and Asia from that same point East. both listed Turkey in the 
"Europe" section of their listings, however.

for whatever that's worth, that seems to be the official standing.
