You might also want to take a look at libdisplaymigration 
(http://cvs.handhelds.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/gpe/base/libdisplaymigration/) 
and teleport 
(http://cvs.handhelds.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/gpe/base/teleport/)  from the 
GPE Palmtop Environment. 

libdisplaymigration adds display migration support to Gtk  and teleport allows 
running applications to be moved between X displays, without closing and 
restarting them.
