Yes. You wouldn't want to try to get (e.g. JPEG thumbnails) from a huge
directory over a dialup FTP link. ;-)
You can configure that in KControl -> KDE Components -> File Manager. It's
the Previews & Meta-Data tab.

As long as it starts with an x- for the type it should be alright. That one
sounds good to me.

You'd have to ask kde-core-devel about placing it in CVS, I think. Although
you may not hear anything back. I still haven't heard back about my
kfile-torrent plugin. As far as what CVS module to put it in, kdeaddons
sounds like a good idea.
