Subject:    Setting the font of a QTextEdit

I'm trying to set the font of a QTextEdit to the global fixed font with

textEdit->setFamily( KGlobalSettings::fixedFont().family() );

The family is indeed changed, but it has no visible effect. What am I 
doing wrong?
