Answering my own problem: 

I found that in WebProfile mode, Ctrl-C does not copy files, whereas in file 
browsing mode it does. I think this is because the behavior of Ctrl-C is 
dependent on the konqueror profile rather than the kio slave being used! Is 
this true? Shouldn't this be fixed so that Ctrl-C will copy file when in 
file:// mode?
