Based off of your ps dump it seems that a lot of your system is also being
consumed by system daemons. Do you need a samba server running on your
machine? What about 7 different virtual consoles? You use portmap? You also
use NFS? You also run a database server off of your desktop? Postmaster?
qmgr? tlsmgr? Ever considered dropping cups to save some memory? You run a
dns server?! All that extra stuff is taking up 21.6 extra megs, which
shouldn't be running on your desktop.

Also, you have 57.5megs of your ram cached, and if I'm not mistaken, that
doesn't mean it's used. So technically you are only using 62 megs of ram, and
if you stopped running those daemons, it would go down to 40.9megs. Amazing,
if you do the math.
