I'm not too sure whether $COMMENT is the right way to go as those are often 
quite elaborate.

What about this plan: 

  - COMMENT will be shown as tooltip. It's optional, so people can turn       
      tooltips off.

  - we add TYPE to describe the type of the application. This can optionally  
     be shown in menu like $NAME ($TYPE)

  - For standard desktop tools like the pager, the find utility, the control  
     center, the minicli,  we use NAME as TYPE just as we do it today:

       Find
       Desktop pager
       Control Center
       Run Command
       

What what does this scheme do to apps like ksysguard? 

      KSysGuard (System Guard) ?

Here I would definitely prefer
     
       System Guard

or 
 
       System Guard (System Monitor Utility)
