Ok, it's not like a normal argument to an app's cmdline, then.
Then you're right, the shellQuote solution doesn't fit :(
(And we have a problem if someone tries to create a .desktop file
for netscape using the openURL command above - but we have konqueror
fortunately :)

Yup. You are right, you need to revert to some hand-made escaping.
