Yep I was just starting off w.r.t. both C++ and KDE at that time
anyway, so I wasn't too surprised that my slightly hackish changes
were not instantly patched in :)

One thing you realise if you're not told it first. Code speaks
louder than words. We should have a 'newbie' branch, where people who
don't have much experience but want to do a proof-of-concept can
commit. That would keep some of the more vocal people on kde-look
happy ;)

Yes, that's ok, but it doesn't work when you DnD to an app to load
a file... hang on, yes it does. You get the mimetype :)
