You can change the printer driver from the print manager. After
having selected the printer model, if more than 1 driver is
available, you should be asked which one to use (this happens
in the add printer wizard).
However, from your description below, this shouldn't change
anything.

Then the problem is in kpdf. When printing to a PS file, kdeprint
does nothing except copying the data generated by the appliction
to a file. If this doesn't print, this means that the generated PS
is faulty (or at least that the underlying printer driver cannot
cope with it). As kghostview can print the file, I'd guess that the
problem is in kpdf.
