That's the one, assuming it has the X-KDE-NativeMimeType line in it.
Try copying it to /var/lib/menu/kde/Applications/, that should fix it for KWord.
(If it does, you might want to copy all the .desktop files for koffice apps)

Hmm, not if you only upgrade KOffice, keeping kdelibs & kdebase unchanged.
But more .desktop file problems will appear then, I think (e.g. KOffice not
appearing in the menus anymore, unless you move files around again....)
