This was discussed a looong time ago. It is possible to use Gecko
as a replacement for libkhtml. However that would mean running Gecko
and KDE so why not just run Mozilla or Netscape 6 ?
Gecko is good for several things at this stage of the game though.
1. A teaching tool to help the KDE people with some of the trickier
parts of HTML, XML, CSS and whatever.
2. A reference plugin interface. The code is open so it should be
possible ( I can't call any programing task easy ) to match the plugin
interface exactly. This would give us all the new Netscape plugin
( on Linux. Sorry users of other *nix ).
3. A compatibility reference point. Both KDE and Mozilla claim to
be 100% buzzword compliant. In reality there is still room for some
incompatibility without either of them straying noticeably far from
the spec.
4. A marketing partner. "Konqi, Mozilla, Opera etc... all render
this the same way. They are right and you're browser is wrong.
