Hi Everyone!
In the IE5 discussion last week, it came up that Netscape was preparing a
beta of Communicator 6.0. For those interested in this, I found the
following... BTW, has the possibility of using Gecko source code in Konqi
been considered, or is the NPL to restrictive?

Netscape Preps 6.0 Browser

Netscape says it will release a beta version of its next-generation
browser within a month, promising faster content delivery, more
customization options for developers and support for more
applications.

But analysts downplayed the significance of Netscape 6.0, the
company's first major browser release in more than two years. "We've
reached the very flat part of the curve in terms of what gains you
get from revisions of browsers, especially in the enterprise," said
International Data Corp. analyst Barry Parr.

The new browser may appeal more to developers and ISVs, making it
a more viable alternative to Microsoft's Internet Explorer in some
business applications, analysts said. The browser's component-based
Gecko HTML rendering engine makes it easier for developers to build
applications or customized versions of the browser, an IE attribute.
Gecko also is designed for use in alternative browsing devices, such
as set-top boxes. -- David Drucker
