Internet Software Development Software Development :: Build Tools

About: Anthill ensures a controlled build process and promotes the sharing
of knowledge within an organization. It performs a checkout from the source
repository of the latest version of a project before every build, and tags
the repository with a unique build number after every build. It also
automatically updates a project intranet site with artifacts from the
latest build. Anthill is an extension to the Apache-Ant project and is
compatible with version 1.3 and 1.4 of Ant.

Changes: Added dependency groups, so that projects dependent on other
projects can be built using the build artifacts from the dependencies.
Users have the option to force the build of any of the members of a
dependency group. A problem with scheduled builds was fixed, and some code
was reworked to support future enhancements.

[063] - mkrdns 3.0
  by Theo Van Dinter (http://freshmeat.net/users/felicity/)
  Wednesday, May 15th 2002 15:43

Internet :: Name Service (DNS) Utilities

About: mkrdns is a small Perl script that helps automate changes to your
DNS zone files. It does this by reading your named.boot/named.conf file to
find all the domains/networks for which you are authoritative. It then
reads all of the forward zone files and generates PTR records which it
inserts in the reverse zone maps.

Changes: This release adds support for BIND 9 views and BIND 8's "$$ means
$" in GENERATE statements. The unique file/zone check has been modified to
only care about reverse zones. An "ignoreslaves" directive has been added
to ignore forward zone slaves in the configuration. There are other minor
bugfixes.

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Editors

About: mpgedit is an MPEG 1 layer 1/2/3, MPEG 2, and MPEG 2.5 audio file
editor that is capable of processing both Constant Bit Rate (CBR) and
Variable Bit Rate (VBR) encoded files. mpgedit can cut an input MPEG file
into one or more output files, as well as join one or more input MPEG files
into a single output file. Since no decoding or encoding occurs during
editing, there is no audio quality loss when editing with mpgedit. mpgedit
features both a command line interface and a curses-based, full-screen
interactive interface. All editing functionality is available in both
interfaces. The interactive mode has a playback feature for selection and
verification of edit begin and end times.

Changes: Xing variable bit rate (VBR) header updates for MPEG1 and MPEG2
mono/stereo files, occasional buffer flushing problem when updating MPEG1
layer 3 (MP3) VBR headers, editing of MPEG1 layer1 and MPEG2 layer2 files,
and audio playback problems with simultaneous playback of stereo/mono files

[069] - OpenAntivirus ScannerDaemon 0.5.1

Communications :: Email :: Filters Security System :: Networking ::

About: ScannerDaemon is the virus scanner of the OpenAntivirus project. You
can send a filename to it via simple TCP and it will scan the file for
virii and tell you if the file is infected or not. The ScannerDaemon comes
with its own virus database, so you do not need any commercial virus
scanner. There is a plugin for AMaViS to scan all EMail going through a
mail server.

Changes: This version has a new filter concept which allows better
filtering. The first advantage is decompression of Zip and UPX compressed
files and detection of uninfectable files (like graphics and audio files)
for faster scanning. It probably breaks the detection of some viruses, but
work is being done to remedy this.

[089] - Wonka 0.9.1
  by Ramses Smeyers (http://freshmeat.net/users/fatman/)
  Wednesday, May 15th 2002 13:20

System :: Boot System :: Operating System

About: Wonka is ACUNIA's cleanroom Virtual Machine for the Java language.
It is extremely portable and self-contained, and can optionally be used
with its own real-time executive (OSwaldTM) to provide a complete solution
for embedded devices. It is a full implementation of the Java language, not
just a subset, and it's Open Source.

Changes: Lots of bugfixes and enhancements were made, particularly in the
area of clipping. The event-handling thread is now started/re-started when
the first window is opened, and stopped when the last window is closed (so
Wonka terminates when you would expect). We now have two fonts `nippon13'
and `nippon18' which contain haragana and katakana characters. (Kanji is
still a work in progress.) Modal dialogues have been implemented. Windows
now have title bars.

[090] - Zebedee 2.4.0
  by Neil Winton (http://freshmeat.net/users/ndwinton/)
  Wednesday, May 15th 2002 11:26

Security Security :: Cryptography System :: Networking

About: Zebedee is a simple program to establish an encrypted, compressed
tunnel for TCP/IP or UDP data transfer between two systems. This allows
traffic such as telnet, FTP, and X to be protected from snooping as well as
potentially gaining performance over low-bandwidth networks from
compression.

Changes: New features include allowing whole subnet ranges as targets,
binding to specific IP addresses, handling both TCP and UDP with a single
client/server pair, validating connections based on IP address, tunneling
through HTTP proxies, specifying idle connection timeouts, and support for
using pre-established shared secret keys.

[091] - ZenWeb 2.7.3
  by zenspider (http://freshmeat.net/users/zenspider/)
  Wednesday, May 15th 2002 08:34

Internet :: WWW/HTTP Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: ZenWeb is a system for building entire Web sites, not just pages. It
allows you to focus on the content and the structure of the website, while
leaving page construction, markup, layout, and navigation as secondary
concerns. It provides tools for complete Web site design and creation,
simple paragraph to HTML generation with embellishments, and a rich set of
tools for page and Web site creation, modification, and customization.

Changes: test_load, test_loadFromDirectory, and test_renderContent_foot
were implemented. The "-I." argument was added to the Makefile invocation
of tests. Metadata#save and its corresponding test were deleted.

  Wednesday, May 15th 2002 06:33

Security Security :: Cryptography System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: Zorp is a proxy firewall suite. Its core framework allows the
administrator to finetune proxy decisions (with its built-in script
language), and fully analyze complex protocols (including SSH with several
forwarded TCP connections, or SSL with an embedded POP3 protocol). FTP,
HTTP, finger, whois, and SSL protocols are fully supported with an
application-level gateway. Zorp aims for compliance with the Common
Cirteria/Application-level Firewall Protection Profile for Medium
Robustness Enviroment.

Changes: Small bugfixes and very few new features in this first non-rc
release.
