[001] - alterMIME 0.1.7
  by Paul L Daniels (http://freshmeat.net/users/pldaniels/)
  Thursday, August 9th 2001 04:16

Category: Communications :: Email

About: alterMIME is a set of utilities designed to assist in the
modification of MIME-encoded mailpacks often used by Inflex, XaMime, and
other email-scanners. alterMIME can add disclaimers and nullify specified
attachments. alterMIME is part of the commercial XaMime software suite, but
is being offered back to the OpenSource community.

Changes: Alteration to header modification routines used in the attachment
replacement routines. Removed spurious 'stdout' messages which were not
part of "verbose" mode.

  by Steve Slaven (http://freshmeat.net/users/bpk/)
  Thursday, August 9th 2001 21:30

About: The library can be used by developers to quickly add alternate

Changes: Documentation on using UW IMAP (POP3d) has been added along with a
configuration file in /etc/passwd.switch that can override the passwd file
based on the executable name.

[007] - bind 9.2.0rc1 (Bind9-Beta)
  by Gael MARTINEZ (http://freshmeat.net/users/gaelik/)
  Thursday, August 9th 2001 23:33

About: The Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) implements an Internet name
server for Unix operating systems. The BIND consists of a server (or
`daemon') called `named' and a resolver library. A name server is a network
service that enables clients to name resources or objects and share this
information with other objects in the network.

Changes: This is release candidate for BIND 9.2.0, which contains a number
of new features over BIND 9.1. Several bugs in 9.2.0b2 have been fixed.
The OpenSSL library is no longer included with the distribution. This means
that to use DNSSEC, OpenSSL must be installed and the --with-openssl option
must be supplied to configure. This does not apply to the use of TSIG,
which does not require OpenSSL.

[027] - JamochaMUD beta8-01-08-08
  by J. Robinson (http://freshmeat.net/users/Kfox/)
  Thursday, August 9th 2001 15:59

About: JamochaMUD offers Unicode, plug-in, and multi-language support (8
different languages) to allow a more enjoyable MUCKing/MUDding experience.
It features command history, synchronized window controls, experimental
SOCKS 5 support, and greatly improved ANSI colour support. It plays nice on
Unix systems, supports a wide range of MU*s, and also includes emulation of
some TinyFugue editor controls. It uses Java 1.1, and includes classes to
be easily reused in other Java applications.

Changes: The method JamochaMUD uses to search for its "language bundles"
(the simple method of translating the program to different languages) has
been reworked. By previously assuming certain elements of a user's setup,
JamochaMUD would fail to start properly on Linux, unable to find the
resource bundles. This has been corrected. There are also a few cosmetic
fixes to improve the output window and multi-mucking capabilities.

[031] - KKBSwitch 0.1
  by Leonid Zeitlin (http://freshmeat.net/users/lz/)
  Thursday, August 9th 2001 00:21

Category: Desktop Environment :: K Desktop Environment (KDE)

About: KKBSwitch is a keyboard layout indicator for KDE2. It is useful when
you have configured the XKeyboard extension of your X Server to have more
than one keyboard group, for example US/ASCII and Russian. It displays an
icon in the system tray that indicates which layout is currently active.
Note that it does not help you configure XKeyboard, it merely serves as the
indicator of the current group. You still have to configure XKeyboard by
editing the XF86Config file. You can switch keyboard groups by clicking the
icon or selecting the desired group from the icon's menu. Icons
corresponding to different groups are configurable (chosen from the country
flag pixmaps that ship with KDE). There is also a "Toggle mode" (toggles
between the two most recently used layouts).

[039] - NetCallback 1.2.1
  by Alexander V. Konstantinou (http://freshmeat.net/users/akonstan/)
  Thursday, August 9th 2001 17:59

About: NetCallback is a Java application permitting the export of TCP ports
behind a firewall to hosts outside the firewall. This may be useful in some
special cases, for example, centralized control of test (demo) networks, or
connection to applets running in browsers. NetCallback consists of a public
and a private server. The public server executes on a host outside the
firewall and is responsible for receiving port forwarding requests. The
private server is run on a host behind the firewall and is responsible for
contacting the public server and connecting the protected TCP service to
the public server clients. The connection between public and private
servers may optionally be encrypted using SSL.

Changes: The SSL server socket had not been configured to require client
authentication. This potentially allowed any PrivateServer to connect to a
PublicServer. This has been fixed.

through collections of thumbnail galleries. Using JavaScript, HTML tables,
and cookies, WebMagick can also allow the viewer to configure how they view
the gallery. The primary focus of WebMagick is performance. Image
thumbnails are reduced and composed into a single image to reduce client
accesses, reducing server load and improving client performance. Everything
is pre-computed. During operation WebMagick employs innovative caching and
work-avoidance techniques to make successive executions much faster.

Changes: The bugs that have been fixed involve the (previously) missing
blue_c.gif icon and compatibility with the latest version of PerlMagick.
