Make sure you have your signal ground connect to AIGND on the NI  
terminal strip.  Also make sure you're running inpn with AREF_GROUND  
and not AREF_DIFF or something else.  It's an option you can pass  
to ./inpn, something like ./inpn -a 0 I believe.
