At least there was nearly 0 discussion back then and nobody seemed eager
to change the defaults. I don't necessarily think that they don't care
at all, but it seems like having a KDE wide "namespacing" of shortcuts
just isn't on the todo list (or at the bottom end, something to consider
eventually for kde5).

IIRC there was just one post from Jakob Petsovis on kde-core-devel or
the usability list, sometime in summer 2007.
