Summary: part of the screen is unable when X is in dual mode
           Product: kwin
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Compiled Sources
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: crash
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kwin kde org
        ReportedBy: pfrancq ulb ac be

Version: 4.1 beta1 (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: gcc 4.2.3
OS: Linux

I use a laptop with two screens (displaying the same thing) : an external monitor and \
the internal display of the laptop. Since the resolution of the internal display \
(1400x1050) is less than the one of the external monitor (1920x1200), X puts the \
internal display in virtual mode (the screen moves with the mouse cursor). In KDE4 \
(in KDE 4.0.x as well as in KDE 4.1 beta1), sometimes (for example after the return \
of a screensaver), the right part of my external monitor is not usable anymore. In \
practice, it means that all windows (including the panel and the background image) \
are cutted. This problem never occurs in the KDE3. When logout and login it, \
everything is blocked and I must reboot the system. After the reboot and login in \
KDE4, the cutted right part is still unsable. If a remove the ~.kde4 directory \
(making KDE4 restarting from scratch), I have once again access to the whole screen. \
