Subject: [kde-redhat-users] kdeinit problem
Message: 1
After tonight's update, which include qt I think. I'm getting an
error on reboot, right after the splash screen starts counting
the little icons down in the center screen; above, top-left,
appears a little box "Could not start kdeinit; check your
installation"
What could this be?

Make sure you have kdelibs-3.5.5-0.8 (or newer).

Subject: [kde-redhat-users] Clean up stage from FC5 to FC6
Message: 3
Hello,
while cleaning the resulting list of installed packages I noticed the
following (reasonably minor) problems:
# yum list extras
...
dbus-qt.i386 0.61-4.fc5 installed
kdebluetooth.i386 1.0-0.17.beta2.fc5 installed
kdegraphics.i386 7:3.5.5-1.fc5 installed
kdewebdev.i386 6:3.5.5-1.0.fc5 installed
libmeanwhile0.i386 0.4.2-0.2.fc5.kde installed
at the same time running package-cleanup (from yum-utils) I get:
# package-cleanup --problems
...
Missing dependencies:
Package dbus-qt requires dbus = 0.61
Package dbus-qt requires libdbus-1.so.2
Package kdebluetooth requires libbluetooth.so.1
Just for completeness I have
# rpm -qa | wc -l
1460
and I have 4 packages from Core in extras listing above.
Notice that FWIW everything seems to work as it should. :-)
Thanks,

OK - in order to do that, I had to enable testing and testing-all,
which I hadn't been using for awhile. I did, and updated kdelibs
to the latest, and things are fixed. Thanks.

dbus-qt is simple. It doesn't exist for anything post fc5.
kdebluetooth prob is simple too: I never built it for fc6 (oops).

Due to fc5/fc6 binary-incompatible qt-3.3.7 update (mostly our fault,
not fedora's), we'll fast-track kde-3.5.5 to stable later today for all
supported distro-releases: fc5,fc6,el4 on i386/x86_64.

Subject: [kde-redhat-users] CD automount in KDE
Message: 8
People,
What exactly is necessary to a CD or DVD to be automounted in KDE, and to the
popup dialog asking what should be done with it to appear?
I explain: I've just installed FC6 and KDE reacts as expected when most
removable media is inserted. I've tried pendrives an memory sticks and they
all were automatically mounted and KDE asked me what I wanted to do with the
media.
However, there are some CDs and DVDs that KDE refuses to notice when they're
inserted. Some work ok, but others don't. For example, the FC6 DVD that I
have used to install the system isn't noticed by KDE when inserted. I have to
mount it manually to use it.
No update has been done yet, this is just the default FC6 installation with
FC6 KDE.
Why does this happen?
Thanks,
Marcelo

Message: 9
Hi!
Thank you for the new version, the 3.5.5 rpms is working flawlessly. Some rpms
are missing though, i'm on fc5 (thinking of upgrading to fc6 sometime but are
waiting a bit), the missing packages are kdeartwork, kdeartwork-icons and
kdebindings (i think). Hope you can build them, only wanted to remind you.
Regard
P. Ekholm
