Yakuake is a tabbed terminal program that stays hidden until you press the f12
key. It stays on top of everything. Can be configured to take up part of the
screen or all of the screen. Press f12 again and the program is hidden again,
but still running, along with any processes.

I got my investigative juices flowing. Let me hold off on your offer for
awhile. I'd like to figure this out, including why the repos got added, and
also other things... It will be a useful exercise for me.

They came from the rpmforge-release rpm which installs repos / channels
confiugrations for apt-get, yum and smart

OK - let me make sure I understand. You're saying that the smart rpm from
rpmforge-release is what installed those repos? Do I have that right? Also,
has it appeared to you as if smart was checking channels even when they are
not checked in the selection boxes?

Thanks again - if you get some insight into how the prioritizing is supposed
to work, and you're so inclined, let me know - you can do so off list if you
think the other members will think it too OT...

By the way, just to let Colin know, and others, regarding the subject of this
long thread, the update to smart .40 has fixed the issue of warnings
regarding GLib-GObject...
