Hello People!
The last two days I was too busy to read the list, and now such a long
thread!
Just for information...:
After a long discussion about what database to use we did not find a
solution. Both gdbm and my text file interface do not seem to be the
best ways to go.
In the end we came to the conclusion that it would be best to define an
definition how to implement an interface usable for any arbitrary
database that will be the base for our applications dealing with
personal information.
I will implement a example interface for QConfigDB (kab's interface),
Mike will hopefully do so for gdbm (will you?). It took some time, we
are currently very busy.
The first implementation is not far away, possible one or two weeks.
With this, Mike, Preston and me can go on and improve our applications,
while we do not fix the database standard to use. This is in general a
good way, since DB technology changes quickly, I suppose.
I will announce a package named something with kabII the next days, have
a look.
All people concerned by it will be informed in time.
Greetings,
--Mirko.
