If I were you I'd start with Qt.  The Qt book is much more recent for 
starters, and KDE itself tends to be very Qt-like.  Or in other words, to be 
a good KDE programmer you will *have to* be good at Qt (luckily it's not so 
hard!), so you might as well start there. ;)
