Hello,

Just a point for discussion:

At the moment some KDE applications are using SQLite as
database backend:
- digiKam
- amaroK
- Krecipes
- Kopete

What about including SQLite in kdelibs?

It will provide common SQL backend for all kapplications and reduce
total size of KDE.

IMO the most important factor is where else SQL backend could be used
and how it would improve current behavior?

For example KDE-PIM. Base standards for data like mbox, maildir, iCal
and vCal are untouchable but would SQL database improve speed and HDD
usage for .index files (they are used to store header info), or maybe
give additional possibilities for quering data?

In most other programs data files are rather small (eg. high scores in
kdegames, kppp logs) and SQL databases would be too heavy but could
provide various possibilities. Apache has sqlite plugin similar to
mysql. What about exporting and processing that data through http - KDE
Over HTTP - KOH? Of course this extreme idea but interesting one :)

m.
