yes, its still an open issue.
KWord is first a document editing application, so it has the notion of real
paper and its color. In this world most paper is by default white.
With that in mind we can do 2 things;
* have a template that assumes black paper.  This will be useful on screen, not
so useful for printing.
* have a text-editing mode (again) which uses the system colors.  This is still
very tricky since the user can change the colors of his text in the document.
So ideally this text-editing mode would have a "real-paper-colors" mode too.

I'd love to get some help with this,  there are a lot of other things to do
too.
