If it can help, I extracted this from kernel traffic #264 \
(http://www.kerneltraffic.org/kernel-traffic/kt20040625_264.html): "dnotify needs a \
file to be kept open on the device, causing problems during unmount".

This is from ubuntu forums (http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1159.html):
"fam uses a kernel feature called dnotify, which is what causes this
problem. There is a new replacement, called inotify, which we will have
in HoaryHedgehog, along with a new fam replacement called gamin."

From RedHat bugzilla \
(https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-test-list/2004-July/msg00709.html): "This is \
a complicated issue. Fam is often blamed because some app has a monitor open on some \
directory, but killing that app makes fam release the monitor. Such a problem is \
really not the fault of fam.

However, there *is* a bug in the dnotify code in fam that sometimes
made it forget that it had a monitor on a directory, so you had to
kill fam itself (as root) to fix it. This is really bad, but I finally
sat down and tracked down the bug. The fix is in fam-2.6.10-1, which
will be in rawhide shortly.

No doubt there are still ways to get fam to lock unmounts, however
thats not the fault of fam anymore, so i'm closing this bug."

There's a patch in gentoo that can solve this problem. I think so because I don't \
have this problem. I'm uploading the patch to people test it. This patch is applied \
against fam, not kde!! Please, give me some feedback.
