I think Ferdinand wants something like the functionality minicli provides:
Enter an KDE application name (like konsole, kedit, etc.) and it will do a
serviceByDesktopName( enteredText ) and use that icon if the service
exists.
It's surely not a perfect approach, but it seems to work for most
apps? ;-)
