I have the following settings:
  Alt-Tab is limited to current desktop
  Alt-Tab mode: is CDE

If I hit Alt-Tab when there are NO windows up, then
KDE consistently hangs.  I can bring up menus but I cannot
switch desktops, nor bring up a shell window or anything.
I have to got to another computer and kill -9 the kwm
process.

I have a dual-processor Pentium II system running 
Mandrake 7.0
Kernel 2.2.14 w/ SMP turned on.
