Subject: Bug#2419: kppp gets confused by "/" in username

Package: kppp
Version: 1.6.11

If the user name contains a slash (e.g. "abc/1234") and PAP
authentication is used kppp displays the error message "The ppp
daemon died unexpectedly" right after the modem has connected.

I am quite sure this is because the slash has some special meaning
in the pap-secrets file and therefore has to be preceeded by a
backslash: "abc\/1234".

If I dial up my ISP "by hand" (chat + pppd) with the "\/"
combination in pap-secrets everything is fine.

Putting \/ in kppp's user name field causes the same error
message.

I am using kde 1.1.1 on Halloween Linux III (RedHat 6.0) with
kernel 2.2.9.
