Package: kmail
Version: 1.0.28

Ok, not quite, but nearly.
Kmail has been running fine on my RH6.1 system for quite a while now.
I've got a P75 w/ 40 MBytes of memory.

I tried to mail a 3.5 meg file to a friend of mine as an attachment.
Everything started out ok, but suddenly
my machine started swapping lightly, then swapping heavily, and then
swapping so hard that the mouse froze and I couldn't even
ctl-alt-backspace out of X. Had to pull the plug. That's fine, but now
the behavior
repeats itself whenever I try to send ANY outgoing email. Even a "hello
world" to myself. All my outgoing mail goes through my ISP using SMTP.
kmail starts the handshake with my ISP but when it gets to "transmitting
message data" it starts a memory grab that will shut my whole computer
down within 30 seconds if I don't kill it fast enough.

My girlfriend can still use kmail from her account fine, so I'm assuming
this nasty behavior will go away if I clear out all the kmail
directories in my home.

Don't have a clue what the problem is, but it is NASTY.

regards -

Jon
