    package: kppp
    version: 1.6.2 and 1.6.18

I have succesfully connected to the internet using wvdial with
basically its default setting but
with kppp after between 4 and 5 minutes of connections time ( every time
) I get the message
"The pppd daemon died unexpectedly" and I lose my connection. I
originally had version 1.6.2
but upgraded to 1.6.18 thinking it might fix this problem but i still
get the same thing. The upgrade
seemed to install successfully and the version listed when i run kppp -v
is 1.6.18 but its possible
i did something wrong with the install.

Here is the transcript from /var/log/messages:

I am using Suse linux 6.1 with kernel version 2.2.5 and libc version -
glibc 2.07pre6.
the pppd version is 2.3 with patch level 5.

Any help on this problem would be appreciated. As far as i can tell
the message log looks the same
as for a successful connection with wvdial except for the last 4 lines
but i could be wrong.
Thank You.
