Subject: Bug#1348: kvt: Can't enter # and @ on HP-UX
From: Stefan.Becker () nmp ! nokia ! com

package: kvt
version: 1.1.1
target: hppa2.0-hp-hpux10.20
compiler: egcs 1.1.2
When I start a kvt the termio ERASE and KILL special characters are
hardcoded to the HP-UX defaults, i.e. # and @. This makes the terminal
useless, because you can't even enter a comment or an EMail address into
an vi editor :-(
I tried to play around with "stty". But even if I set "kill" and "erase"
to other values, the # and @ still behave the same. Here are the default
tty settings for a kvt on my HP-UX machine:
speed 9600 baud; -parity
time = 255; eol = <undef>; swtch = ^@;
susp = ^Z; dsusp = ^Y;
werase = ^W; lnext = ^V;
brkint -inpck -istrip icrnl -ixany onlcr
-iexten echo echoe echok
-echoctl -echoke
BTW: This might be a deeper hidden problem, because when I start an xterm
or CDE dtterm from a kvt or a kvt under CDE then they all have the same
errorneous behaviour. Maybe there is some incompatibility between KDE/kvt
and HP-UX termio?
Regards,
Stefan
