Desktop showing temperature of 91 degrees C

A snapshot of my desktop with the LCD Weather applet showing a temperature of
91 degrees C. As can be seen from the web page in the snapshot, the true
temperature is -9 (actually, -9.1). The applet is failing to show both the
decimal point and the minus sign.

This is very problematic on mild winter days. When the applet shows, for
example, 12, is it +12 degrees, -1.2 degrees, or -12 degrees? I have to consult
a secondary source to be certain.
