Considering this behavior is inconsistent with Oxygen, I didn't find this
feature to be very discoverable. I actually thought the menu icon was broken
altogether until one time I just happened to hold my mouse button down for a
bit after clicking. I would never have thought to close a window by
double-clicking on this icon, especially with a close button already part of
the window decoration. Is this a convention of some sort that I have missed all
these years? It seems a pretty strange one (at least to me).
Anyway, perhaps at least Oxygen and Aurorae should be made to behave the same
way to avoid confusion?
