Yes, but I should be able to assign mouse button #8 to Konqueror's "Back"
action, and I should be able to assign mouse button #10 to the "Present
Windows" global shortcut.

Not all mice have only three buttons.  Right now I have to use xbindkeys to
execute xte to simulate key presses when I click buttons on my mouse, and then
those simulated key presses get interpreted by KDE's shortcuts support.  Kind
of going around my ankle to get to my thumb, wouldn't you say?
