Global mouse shortcuts will cause problems as that will break applications.
E.g. ctrl+lmb on a link in Konqueror will open the linked webpage in a new tab.
If you add a global shortcut this will break :-(

Yes I know that the same situation applies to keyboard shortcuts, but the
possible combinations with modifiers and mouse buttons is quite limited
