Summary: graphical artifacts due to custom interface colors
(especially with KDE custom window color gradient)
Product: amarok
Version: unspecified
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: amarok-bugs-dist lists sourceforge net
ReportedBy: ahlgren mit edu
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.3)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
Using custom colors produces many graphical artifacts:
Replication:
1- Menu: Settings > Configure AmaroK > Appearance > Custom Color Scheme
2- Set the colors to something kind of light-on-dark (e.g. light blue on dark blue, maybe even \
white on black). 3- Set KDE's color scheme to a gradient: launch kcontrol, go to \
Appearance/Themes > Colors, select "Blue Slate"
What you see:
- You see many flat dark rectangles (background color) around the screen within the \
gradient-colored menubars and panels; this is most noticable with: 1) the text "search" to the \
right of the black "[X>" icon on the filter bar, which is black-on-black and manifests as a \
black box on a gradient; 2) the volume control, which is hard to see because it's \
dark-blue-on-black, and also manifests as a black box in the middle of a nice gradient toolbar; \
3) the Fourier Transform box, which also manifests as a black box in the middle of a nice \
gradient toolbar
- There's no way to edit the colors of the text used for songs.
- There're odd and large dark borders around the toolbars in various browsers, e.g. the \
Collection Browser.
The 'Search' button graphical artifact should be easy to fix. I would suggest that the easiest \
way to fix the bottom panel would be to keep it a toolbar (like it is right now I'm guessing) \
but give it a solid background color that trumps KDE's background gradient. However, I think \
the most elegant and prettiest way to fix it would be to make the volume control have a \
transparent background, and give the FFT box a nice, perhaps 2-4 pixel, border.
