The 'Search' button graphical artifact should be easy to fix. I would suggest that the easiest way to fix the bottom panel would be to keep it a toolbar (like it is right now I'm guessing) but give it a solid background color that trumps KDE's background gradient. However, I think the most elegant and prettiest way to fix it would be to make the volume control have a transparent background, and give the FFT box a nice, perhaps 2-4 pixel, border.
