I have the same issue with a French keyboard.
Problem seems to be with the way we type letter with circonflex accent like ô, î, \
â, ê ... or trema ï, ö, ü, ë ...

On a French keyboard, one shall normally use the key with ^ just at the right of the \
letter p and then type the letter, which will be covered by this accent (for trema \
it is the ^ key with shift before).

The behavior of this special key on a French keyboard could be compared with the \
shift key used to get majuscules. We use it to modify the letter. Now, I have not \
understood, how I shall do in the file fr.keyboard. I suppose the bug should be \
corrected in that file.
