Summary: Keep notification message history, add systray icon
           Product: kcontrol
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Gentoo Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: kcmknotify
        AssignedTo: pfeiffer kde org
        ReportedBy: d.h.j.takken phys uu nl

Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

It might be useful if the KDE notification system could have a system tray icon that \
would show a list of previously received notification messages.

Maybe it would also be nice to add the possibility for applications to show a message \
in balloon-style, near the systray icon of the KDE notification system. Applications \
that currently crowd the systray with their own icons (email notifyers and such) \
could use this in stead. The message in the balloon could be prepended with something \
like:

"Message from application '<application name>':"

and add a clickable link in the balloon saying 'Configure <application name>...' \
which shows the configuration dialog of the application.

One more idea: The first time that an application ever sends a notification message \
to the user, the KDE notification system could display a more elaborate dialog \
saying:

"Application 'Mail Notification' just sent you this message: <message>. Would you \
like to receive more messages like this in the future? (Yes/No)"

This last idea might help people that would normally never attempt to customise \
notifications.

Allright, enough ideas for now. Maybe you find some of these useful...
