Maybe it would also be nice to add the possibility for applications to show a message in balloon-style, near the systray icon of the KDE notification system. Applications that currently crowd the systray with their own icons (email notifyers and such) could use this in stead. The message in the balloon could be prepended with something like: "Message from application '':" and add a clickable link in the balloon saying 'Configure ...' which shows the configuration dialog of the application. One more idea: The first time that an application ever sends a notification message to the user, the KDE notification system could display a more elaborate dialog saying: "Application 'Mail Notification' just sent you this message: . Would you like to receive more messages like this in the future? (Yes/No)" This last idea might help people that would normally never attempt to customise notifications.
