Summary: slackware 8.1 +KDE upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1 +arts
problems
Product: arts
Version: unspecified
Platform: Slackware Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: crash
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: stefan@space.twc.de
ReportedBy: mitsumi19@hotmail.com
Version: arts 1.1 (using KDE KDE 3.1)
Installed from: Slackware Packages
Compiler: gcc 3
OS: Linux
When making a clean install of slackware 8.1 with the corresponding KDE 3.0, \
everything works fine. Arts does it's work (sound and video) so so far so good. When \
I upgradepkg (or removepkg and installpg) all my KDE 3.0 apps and libs to the newest \
3.1 packages, including arts (kde 3.1 works with arts 1.1) it fails to play video \
from there on. Simple files like mpeg/avi are not viewable. It states that "arts \
cannot load this file" as the embedded media player, and neither will kaboodle or any \
other type of program that supports movies (unknown mimetpe video/mpeg is often the \
general error description). When I reinstall slackware 8.1 and check those movies, \
kaboodle plays them perfectly using mpeg_lib, and arts doesn't cause any kind of \
problem. If anyone has the same problem with this, please contact me at \
mitsumi19@hotmail.com . Also, mp3's still play well, and I do have all the sound in \
the world. It's just the movies.
