Summary: configuring panel made it crash and now it won't

This bug looks similar to bug # 12054 "kicker freezes (infinite loop) when an applet \
is moved and panel is longer than screen", but not the same (there was no mention of \
kicker never showing up again).

Here is the scenario: moved kicker to the left side of the screen and made icons \
medium (previously they were small). Started futzing around with the placement of \
things. After changing the clock to analog, moved it to the bottom. However, it went \
too far so I went to move it up. It wouldn't move and I could no longer use the \
scroll arrows. Moving something on top of the panel and moving it away caused a \
redraw of white. After logging out and logging back in, the kde launch panel takes a \
very long time on the "loading panel" bit, then kicker never comes up. Unfortunately \
there's no way I can reproduce the bug since kicker has seemingly disappeared. I have \
tried going to the preferences and changing things such as autohide to get it to show \
up. No luck.

It doesn't make for the best experience within my first 1/2 hour of using kde! :(
