Subject: Bug#39980: forked but minimised konqueror window for popups
From: curious () hyperreal ! pl
Date: 2002-03-31 19:13:42
[Download RAW message or body]
Package: konqueror
Version: KDE 3.0.5 CVS/CVSup/Snapshot
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: gcc 2.95.3
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: slow system
when konqueror parse HTML page and find javascript 'popup' request, it should quietly \
(on lowest priority) fork another konqueror window ('popup') with just dns of host \
resolved (but no page, or simply blank page). minimised (in background)
when user decides to click any popup, or clicks 'Yes' in 'page requested a popup \
window' minimised browser should recieve adress of popup , to reduce delay
(normally new browser window is opened after this event, which causes noticeable \
delay)
it should have option in 'settings' (so user can disable this feature i.e. on system \
with critical RAM settings) change background fork priority, and issue a delay of \
'page requested a popup window' message (independent of forking of backround browser) \
so user can read page before popup 'page requested a popup' will appear. also can be \
moved to toolbar ('popup' request 'light' and button, when page wants popup it \
changes icon, and when user click at it it opens popup, when user hold it, it shows \
all popup requests from given page (so user can choose which popup to pop up)
minimised browser window in background should be even not for popups but for all \
requests, it greatly increases response (like 'number of spare minimised browser \
windows' option or something... number below this value should be killed after 'delay \
for closing unused spare browsers' and mass popup protection should be 'spare browser \
limit')
