Keith's is off at a gamer's conference.

Keith did the transparent window implementation as a complete hack: it
rendered a pop-up window transparent if override-redirect was set.

And the implementation required large amounts of memory, roughly always
doubling memory usage (ugh).

His plan is to re-do the implementation, given the experience, but it will
require significant DIX reimplementation.

So don't expect it anytime soon: certainly not until render is completely
finished.
