I think the soundcard only supports playback. I will have to buy a new
soundcard, but according to what you are saying the playback features of
viavoice should work. How and when is the W environment set?

	Maybe you didn't set the VV environment:

	shell# . vvsetenv

	If your soundcard is working and it runs 16bit recording and
playback you
	shouldn't have any trouble. Try the readme's in /usr/doc/ViaVoice
and
	/usr/doc/ViaVoiceOutLoud
