That is almost correct. Pre-4.5 it was not possible at all. Post-4.5
it may be possible if you can make the Windows host look like an NDMP
server. I don't know the details but 4.5+ is supposed to allow a
Solaris/Windows server look like an NDMP server to allow NDMP backups
across the network to the servers drives instead of using direct attach
drives. This can help with drive sharing but at the cost of
performance.

You have always been able to restore an NDMP backup to a Solaris host
and then move the data over to Windows if needed. Of course, you do
this without NBU pre-4.5, but it's possible.

Karun,

From my understanding with Veritas, you cannot restore a NDMP client to
a Windows box.

Others may know better than I, but that is what I was told.

Hi Folks !
Can I not restore a file from NDMP backup to a Windows NT server and
vice
versa? When I tried to restore a file in a NDMP backup to a Windows
server,
it complained the "Path is not recongized". Any idea??

Thanks,
- Karun
