CALL FOR PAPERS

[Scope]

Due to the rapid development of wireless communications in recent years, the demand \
on wireless spectrum has been growing dramatically, resulting in the spectrum \
scarcity problem. Works have shown that the fixed spectrum allocation policy commonly \
adopted today suffer from the low spectrum utilization problem. Both academic and \
regulatory bodies have focused on dynamic spectrum access to fully utilize the scarce \
spectrum resource. Cognitive radio, with the capability to flexibly adapt its \
parameters, has been proposed as the enabling technology for unlicensed secondary \
users to dynamically access the licensed spectrum owned by legacy primary users on a \
negotiated or an opportunistic basis. The aim of this conference is to bring \
together researchers in both academia and industry to present their new solutions to \
cognitive radios

[Topics]

Specific topics of the conference include but not limited to:

ï Information-theoretic aspects of cognitive radios
ï Spectrum sensing and prediction techniques for cognitive radios
ï Physical (PHY) layer design of cognitive radios
ï Medium access control (MAC) design for cognitive radio networks
ï Routing, spectrum mobility, and dynamic resource management
ï Cross-layer optimization for cognitive radio networks
ï Co-existence of heterogeneous networks and interference management
ï Network radio architecture facilitating the interplay between layers and enabling \
more network functionalities ï Cooperative techniques and energy-efficiency design of \
cognitive radio networks ï Security issues in cognitive radio networks
ï Artificial intelligence and machine learning for cognitive radios
ï Spectrum sharing and dynamic spectrum access
ï Spectrum pricing, economics models and game theory for dynamic spectrum access
ï Emerging applications of cognitive radio networks (femtocells, heterogeneous \
networks, vehicular networks, public safety, ...) ï Interference analysis, \
measurements and statistical models of spectrum usage ï Simulation tools, testbeds, \
hardware and software prototypes ï Implementation aspects (novel radio \
architectures, antennas, compressive sampling front-ends, etc.) ï Regulation and \
standardization

[Paper submission]

All accepted and presented papers will be included in the Crowncom 2013 Conference \
Proceedings, which will appear in IEEE Xplore (Crowncom 2006-2012 have been included \
in IEEE Xplore. Please refer to the conference website for updated information). \
Proceedings published with IEEE are submitted for inclusion to EI Engineering Index \
(Compendex), Google Scholar, ISI Proceedings. All further information including \
submission guidelines can be found at: www.crowncom.org
