you can use 0,7.4 from official Debian 3.0 or 1.0.4 from Debian
Backports, see www.backports.org. If you want to use version 1.9.6, try
experimental packages from packages.debian.org (Search packages -
Keyword sylpheed, Distribution any and then press Search button).
